KAFA 한국영화진흥원 x La femis

In 2023, the Korean Academy of Film Arts (KAFA) and the French National Superior School for the Professions of Image and Sound (La Fémis) engaged in a collaborative program aimed at fostering film creators from both Korea and France. This program was part of an initiative agreed upon by the Korean Film Council (KOFIC) and the Centre National Cinématographie in France (CNC) to establish the Korea-France Film Academy.

The program was designed to bring together eight students from each country for a two-week intensive session focusing on film production discussions and practical workshops. This initiative provided a unique opportunity for students to engage in cross-cultural exchanges, learn from different filmmaking perspectives, and develop their skills in an international environment.

KAFA, renowned for tailoring its courses to meet the needs of students and assisting them in creating high-quality films, has a history of international collaboration, evident in its joint workshops with institutions from other countries, including France and Japan. La Fémis, located in Paris, is a prestigious film and television school, part of the PSL Research University, and offers a curriculum that balances artistic research, professional development, and technical training.

This program between KAFA and La Fémis was part of a larger effort to strengthen ties between the Korean and French film industries, promote the exchange of ideas and techniques, and ultimately contribute to the global film culture by nurturing talented filmmakers from both nations.
